Concerns at the Post Office
To the Editor,
Now that you’ve had a chance to visit the busy post office to drop off your bills, cards, letters and packages, I wondered if you noticed some things. Where is the seasonal artwork done by the students? It is always superb and a delight to see. Why haven’t broken windows been repaired? And the most important thing to notice — the lack of white lines and arrows in the parking lot. Too much time on her hands you might say! Well, I have personally seen several Hold Your Breath – near accidents involving people going in the exit side of the parking lot. I feel that it’s doe to the fact that the line are not clearly defined on the pavement. At least I hope that is their excuse.
I am sure that I am not the only one who has noticed that if you have to drop off letters in those outside boxes that there is only one direction to go. And by the way, cutting off senior citizens doesn’t earn you any brownie points. We’re all in a hurry at this time of year. Try to think of it this way: What if it was your elderly relative out there? Wouldn’t you want someone else to show them some respect and patience? It’s not easy to back out of some of those parking spaces when the lot is crowded. I know if you’re reading this letter that I am probably preaching to the choir; but, spread the word anyway.
Broken windows, to me, don’t evoke a good feeling about what we think about our town’s post office. I realize that thermal windows are expensive; yet, they’ve been broken for quite a while. Why? How much does it cost to fix these things and whose responsibility is it to fix them? That’s my question — well that’s two questions really. Mansfield residents check it out for yourselves. If you agree with me speak up and talk to the powers that be. It might seem like such a small thing; but what an impact just the lines being repainted will have on everyone.

P.S. Thank you to the hard working postal employees who always have a smile and a kind word no matter how long the line is.
